Show tHIS WEEK lit Mi'NERSVlLLE By MRS. EMILY GIlLINS A meeting of the Auxiliary to The American Legion was held Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Gertrude Marshall. Mrs. Helen Hel-en Davis, vice president, conducted the meeting in the absence of Mrs. Betty Marshall, who was unable to be present. Business conducted included in-cluded assignment of chairmen for various projects as follows: Mrs. Phyllis Truman. Girls' State; Mrs. Lynnea Marshall, Poppy Day; and Mrs. Emily Gillins, Essay Contest. The quilt, made of outing flannel, to be given to the LDS Primary hospital, was quilted and taken home by Mrs. Ora Fotheringham to be finished. It will be donated to the hospital as a Valentine gift. Those present were Mrs. Phyllis Truman, Mrs. Effie Marshall, Mrs. Alba Carter, Mrs. Druce Carter, Mrs. Ora Fotheringham, Mrs. Shirley Shir-ley Hollingshead, Mrs. E 1 m a Blackburn and Mrs. Lotus Fassett. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Marshall had as guests for dinner Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Puffer and Mr. and Mrs. Louie Dalton. Gus Lambson is confined to his home, suffering from pneumonia. Another gentleman of our town who has been seriously ill is Bill Bradshaw. His trouble has been lived in South Milford for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jameson were in Las Vegas the past week. While there, Mr. Jameson had the privilege of blessing their first great-grandson, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jameson. He was given the name of Richard Anthony. An-thony. There were four generations genera-tions present for the christening. Frank Carter, local peace officer, offi-cer, recently attended a Southern Utah Public Safety meeting, held in St. George. He reported a fine educational meeting and added that they were guests of the City of St. George at a sumptuous steak dinner. ' Mr. and Mrs. Andy Bohn left Tuesday evening by rail to spend their vacation in Oregon. Three children were blessed and given names at Sunday afternoon Fast and Testimony services in the Minersvilie LDS Ward chapel. Theresa Denise and Verne Allen Wood, children of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Wood, were blessed by their grandfather, William Wood; William Boyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Verl Holdaway of Cedar City and grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carter, was blessed by Bishop Hollingshead. Hol-lingshead. Mrs. Theo Marshall returned home Tuesday from Iron County hospital, where she recently underwent under-went major surgery. She is getting along fine. diagnosed as ulcers. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Blackburn and Erma Jean visited in Salt Lake City last week with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Blackburn and son. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davis of Milford Mil-ford called on local relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Dotson and Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Dotson, Sunday. i Mrs. Pauline Carter has been among the many who are suffering suffer-ing from the flu. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Murdock and Phillip Knapple left Thursday morning, taking equipment and cattle, to Sutherlin, Oregon, where the Murdocks plan to make their home in the near future. Mrs. Smith, Yvonne's mother, cared for the two small Murdock children and Mrs. Eloise Murdock cared for the older ones. Mr. and Mrs. Sim Murdock, who have disposed of their home and farm, are making their home in Beaver temporarily, until all transactions are completed. Mrs. and Mrs. Dean Carter are the purchasers. pur-chasers. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Knapple and six children, who are living in the former Clinton Boyter home, are from Oregon originally, but have |
