Show FULLMER - WEBB FIGHT DRAWS BIG INTEREST OF FANS AS DATE NEARS SALT LAKE CITY - - The first in New York City gave Ellsworth posting of the official fight odds (Spider) Webb the favorite's role in his fight with Gene Fullmer in Sa.lt Lake City September 11. The odds, based on the knock out power of Webb's fists, no doubt, caught manager Marv Jen-son Jen-son by surprise. "We don't care what the odds are, that's true, because our only interest is in winning this fight and getting another shot at the championship. But 'ts funny the experts overlooked the fact that Gene has lost just one fight in almost three years. "Webb has lost one fight this year, to Holly Mims, and one in 1957, to Charley Joseph. "Overlooking the loss by Gene to Ray Robinson in 1957, Fullmer' s last previous loss was November 25, 1955", Jenson pointed out. Fullmer's four losses were to Gil Turner, Bobby Boyd and Edu-ardo Edu-ardo Lausse - - all in 1955 - -and to Robinson for the title in 1957. Webb's other loss was to Red Elby in Chicago in 1953, in Spider's Spid-er's third pro fight. Webb is training in Pocatello at noon daily; Fullmer works at West Jordan at 1 p.m. daily. Tickets are threatening to boost the gate in the neighborhood of the $100,000 mark. But, with plenty of good seats at Derks Field, the demand has been steady after the opening rush. With both Webb and Fullmer on the scene, the ticket sales will spurt. Mail orders are accepted at the Mint Cafe, 27 East 2nd South, Salt Lake City. Tickets are scaled from $10 ringside to $4 in the bleacher seats of the ball park.
