Show Milford Legion Maps Membership Drive Milford Post No. 16, American Amer-ican Legion, is planning the "biggest wingding of the year" when they celebrate the birthday birth-day cf The American Legion, March 15lh. That was the promise made today by Alva J. (Junior) Kirk when he announced an all-out membership drive with the goal set at signing up 33 new or renewal members between now and March 15 anniversary of the original organization in Paris, France, 39 years ago, of The American L.gion. "The foremost objectives of our organization are the care of our military disabled, their widows and orphans; the building build-ing of a high type of citizenship to the end that true patriotism will ever prevail, and that our great American institutions of democracy and freedom will be handed down, unblemished from , generation to generation.7' i In announcing the start of the Milford 1958 membership drive Commander Kirk pointed out that Milford Post No. 16 today to-day stands eighth in percentage of membership in District 7, with only Orderville, St. George and Escaiante having fewer members, percentagewise, already al-ready signed up for 1958. "We are 18 members short of last year's tally at this time," Commander Kirk said, "While many posts in the district are ahead of their last year's totals. We have only 47 of our quota signed up, while Kanab has 123 to lead the district, and Beaver is in second place with 95." "If 10 of the Legionnaires of our post will work as hard at securing new and mewal members mem-bers as 1 of them have already al-ready worked we'll be Reading the district. March 15th," Commander Com-mander Kirk said. "We plan to map our program of Community .service for the coming year, and when we meet for the Victory Banquet that program will be well under way.
