Mrs. William Ziemet of Grants ville spent last week end visit-ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hawkins and family. Her husband joined her here Sunday. Mrs. Merle Watson and sons spent last Saturday night with her mother, Mrs. Rose Yengich who hasn't been feeling well. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hawkins received word this week that their son, Jack, with the Fifth Cavalry company stationed in Japan, is training in parachut-ing. COMMUNITY HOUSE Dr. Roy Carpenter and son, Paul, visited in Highland Boy Sunday and Monday among the many friends who were former-ly of his churches in Ojo, Cali-ent- e and Petaca, N. Mex. Sev-eral families entertained him at a pot luck supper at the Com-munity House Sunday evening before he preached at the ev-ening service there. Mr. and Mrs. Leichtle of Pe-taca, N. Mex., visited at the HIGHLAND BOY' Mrs. Frances B. Hawkins Ph. 598-- Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Heck and family are very proud to receive word that their son, Robert, has earned his third stripe. Robert, is now petty officer second class. Shirley Pantalone visited at the E. A. Beck home last Satur-day evening. Mrs. Milka Smilanich return-- I ed home Monday from a three-- l weeks trip that took her to BoLse, Idaho, where she visited with her son, Steve, and Bridge-- : port, Wash., where she was guest of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Piedmont. The two sisters also visited with friends in Portland, Ore. On the homeward trip Mrs. Smilanich visited at Sacramento and e, Calif., and stopped at Keno, Nev. She made most of the trip by air. Mary and Joe Loverirh and Milan Smilanich attended the home of their son, Albert, last week. Highland Boy children and young people attended their ninth swimming lesson at the Civic Center Tuesday evening for the fall course. Their were 48 in attendance, the average has been 44. Parents have been enthusiastic at the progress shown. Thanks go to the Salt Lake County Recreation depart-ment, local leaders, Miss Bates the teacher, and to the Commu-nity House staff. Home Guards are busy little girls in their mission study, their gift making projects and in their cooking class. Miss Mildred May left Mon-day evening for u months vaca-tion trip at home with her fam-ily in Danville, Ky. Pvt. and Mrs. Gilbert Burke were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burke and son Ger-ald last Wednesday. Mrs. Moriso Ogawa attended the executive council meeting held at South high school in Salt Lake City last Thursday. Pvt. Gilbert Burke returned to Camp Pendleton, Calif., Thurs-day night after spending a 20-da- y leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burke, his bro-ther Gerald, and wife, Sandra. Lola Vigil, Alice Ochoa, and Alice Jaramillo spent last Fri-day evening visiting relatives in Salt Lake City. Sally Ann McAllister of Cop-perto- n was an overnight guest of Rose Hardman Tuesday night. Brownie Scouts will start their Christmas project next week. Joe Duran, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Duran, is spending his fur-lough with his parents end bro-thers, Manuel and Max and sis-ter, Rosa. Joe is stationed at the air force field base in San Fran-cisco. Girl Scout Troop No. 105 Two girls have joined scouts. They are Rase Gonzales and Ru-- I fina Vasrjuez. Patsy Anderson was a visitor. We did some square dances and planned what we were to make for our mothers for Xmas. ; We all enjoyed a Halloween party Saturday at Mrs. Burl Barton's home, our leader. Then we attended the midnight show. Kaylene Kubota, reporter Copperfield School auditorium was a scene of gaiety, laughter! and such energy as has never been, Saturday night as children of the community completed their rounds of "tricks or treats" and gathered there to conclude another Halloween night filled with ghosts, goblins and witch-es. The younger group was en-tertained from 7, to 9 p.m. with games and stunts. At 9 o'clock treats were passed out and the kiddies sent home. The teen age! group danced from 9 to 11 p.m. Scotty Robertson was in charge of the activities assisted by the Copperfield P-T- Those helping wera Mrs. Jessie Sanchez, Lawr-- 1 ence Lovato, Moriso Ogawa and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leather-- ! wood. Many thanks go to the Bing-- , ham District Activity Fund for the treats and to Jack House-holder, John Holmes, Lions Club chairman, and the Bingham Can-yon Lions Club for sponsoring this program. The parents of Copperfield wish to express their gratitude to Scotty Robertson for his tireless efforts each year to help entertain the children on Halloween to keep them off of the streets and out of mischief. The chest X-ra- y unit was a huge success in Copperfield on Thursday, October 29. The P-T- A was in charge and members of that organization contacted each home and urged the people to get their chest There were over 200 people that day.
