Show May 11, 1992 The Signpost Weber State Singer's Annual Spring Concert Soloing singers are the makings for "Musical Menagerie's" spring concert success -4 Special XoThe Signpost The Weber State Singers will present their annual spring Concert Friday and Saturday, May 15-16. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Allred Theater of the Val. A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens. Ticket are available at the Dee Events Center ticket office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to5p.m. For more information, call 626-8500. This year's concert is entitled "Musical Menagerie" and will feature a variety of music, included is a medley from "Big River" and several George Gershwin songs. 'The singers have worked diligently to combine beautiful music 'with eye-catching choreography to provide the audience with beautiful music and excellent entertainment," said Evelyn M. Harris director for the group. Soloists for the performances include Angie Chambers, Emma Dibble, Nancy Trussell, Bill Weaver, Trent Brown and Tim Goins. "In fact," said Harris most of the members of the group are featured in solos or special numbers." Chris Knowles is the. accompanist. Choreography is by Sheri Cole and two student members of the group, Mark Daniels and Tim Goins. The Singers have performed throughout the community and have toured in the states and abroad. They were invited to appear at "Expo 86" in. Canada" at which time theygave concerts in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. In addition, they were invited to "Expo 90" in Osaka, Japan, where they were warmly received not only there, but also in Kyoto, Tokyo, Yokohama and Tiyama. The Weber State Singers are a group of highly selected voices in constant demand by the college and the community for programs and entertainment throughout the year. Their versatile repertoire encompasses serious as well as con-temporarymusicalselections. Well organized choreography adds excitement to their performances. In December 1984, they appeared on KUTV channel 2, P.M. Magazine and at the Hilton Inn as part of the Christmas festivities. Each year they give Christmas performances throughout Ogden, Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas. Annually the Weber State Singers present a Christmas concert in the Temple Square Concert Se-riesand carol in the North and South Visitor's Centers. They also present annual Christmas and Spring concerts on the WSU campus. In the spring of 1987They were selected as the "Organization of the Year" at the annual Crystal Crest Awards. The entire group, directed by Evelyn M. Harris, consists of 23 men and women from WSU.
