And believe it or not, a person could wear shorts without shivering or having to wait to drip dry. Not one umbrella had popped open the entire day. The sun had decided to attend the Sunfest and finally spread its warmth over everyone. The setting of the event was located around the perimeter of the Weber State College duck pond on Saturday, May 17, and operated throughout the day from 1-9 p.m. Music was presented constantly by various bands who played near the bottom of the steps at the duck pond. A fashion show took over the area at 3:45. This production was sponsored by Debbie Dawson with models sporting fun-filled summer attire from the Bon located in the Ogden City Mall. It seemed that the only real problem that the models faced was the lack of a place to change clothes. "Lucky for us, we spotted a large white van and got permission to use it as our dressing room," said one model. "Unfortunately, nobody found the door to shut it until the show was over and as a result we witnessed many passersby." Anyway, the show continued.Eventually a couple of gasps emitted from the crowd as one model emerged wearing a black and pink polka dot bikini. What was different about this two-piece suit was the addition of a live boa constricter wrap-around belt. Some of the daytime activities included: THE MOONWALK, a bouncing, pouncing experience for hyper future astronauts; SUCKER SALE, a sweet product to temporarily satisfy one's personal pucker; the DUNKING BOOTH, an attempt to drench someone else in order to ring out one's own frustrations; and A PLASTIC SWIMMING POOL FISH POND, an imitation ocean to prepare a person for hunger survival in the very likelyhighly possible case of a major Hood. Scrumptious snacks were offered at a portable food stand among the activity booths. Next to that was a table displaying stacks of bright yellow Sunfest T-shirts for sale. According to many individuals who attended the Sunfest, it was so nice that it was sunny. With all of the rain going on, it was only a fair thing for the sun to do. After all, the students of Weber State College don't celebrate the Sunfest without the guest of honor (the sun, of course). |
