Natural Sciences The School of Natural Sciences will hold their awards program for natural sciences graduates, tonight at 7:30 p.m., in SL125, 126. Free fishing to be held The spring thaw is in progress lakes and streams are full of fish and the camp grounds will be open, the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management will provide free camping facilities to the public on June 9, 1989. this partnership effort is in conjunction with a free fishing day sponsored by the Utah State Division of Wildlife Resources on June 10. this opportunity is being offered in recognition of National fishing week, June 5-1 1. Be sure to check on your favorite camp ground with any of our offices. Now is the time to experience the great outdoors with your family and friends. Entries requested for art exhibit The Utah Arts Council has issued a call for entries for its statewide annual exhibition, "Utah '89: Works on Paper," to open June 25 at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Entries will be accepted at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, 101 Art and Architecture Building, University of Utah, on Friday and Saturday June 2 and 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no entry fee "Utah '89: Works on Paper" is open to visual artists who are Utah residents. Entries are limited to original works in prints, drawings, two-dimensional collages and computer-generated images created within the last two years. New genres and works made form mixed media may be entered if the predominant medium or process fits the above categories. Japanese scholarships offered to Americans to study in Japan The Ministry of Education of Japan is offering scholarships to American students who wish to study at a Japanese university as research students under the Mombusho Scholarship Program for the 1990 Japanese academic year. The Mombusho Scholarships provide both two-year and one and a half-year study programs. The two-year program commences in April 1990 and continues to March 1992, and the one and a half-year program from October 1990 to March 1992. The scholarships are available to American citizens under the age of 35 (born after April 2, 1955) who are college or university graduates with superior academic averages. Applications may be obtained by writing to Japan Information Center, Consulate General of Japan, 50 Fremont Street, Suite 2200 San Francisco, Calf. 94105. The deadline for applications is Friday, September 13.
