Show Sports flriefe Founder's Day culminates with volleyball game The Weber State women's volleyball team will compete against a men's celebrity team in a "Challenge of the Sexes" volleyball match tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Swenson Gym. There will be an admission charge of $2 for adults, $1 for students (with I.D.) while children under 12 get in free. The celebrity men's team features Weber State College President Dr. Stephen Nadauld; Nolan Karras, minority leader, Utah House of Representatives; Darnel Haney, WSC Student Athletic Education Specialist; Mike Sivulich, Fishburn-Sivulich Travel Express; Bill Johnson, general manager, Ogden Standard-Examiner; and Dave Hartvigsen, general manager, Radisson Suite Hotel. Also suiting up for the men's team are Val Oveson, Lt. Governor of Utah; Wesley Ruff sportscaster for KTVX (Channel 4); Dick Hunsaker, WSC. assistant men's basketball coach; Gary Evans, executive director, WSC Wildcat Athletic Association; and Brent Larson, station manager for KSOSKNKK Radio. Others making the challenge are John E. Lindquist, president of Lindquist and Sons; Mike Fletcher, vice president of marketing, OgdenSalt Lake Hilton Hotels; and Weber County Commissioner Robert Hunter. Five Star Corp. of California IM schedules May events Beginning on Mon., May 11, a Pickleball tournament is planned for singles and doubles competitors. Those wishing to participate must enter before 3 p.m., Wed., May 6. Intramurals is also looking for experienced softball officials to fill several vacant positions. Pay is $3.35 per game during the regular season and $5.03 per game during the playoffs with an increase to $6.70 per championship game. Golfers face stiff challenge The Weber State men's golf team will participate in the ThunderbirdSun Devil Invitational April 30 till May 2 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Coach Mac Madsen will send Miguel Tola, Carito Villaroman, Paul Muller, Glen Spencer, Kenny Thompson, and Ed Baker into the tourney which will feature nine of the top 16 teams in the nation. For your interview call 10 Netters confident of title Weber State College aims for its fifth straight Big Sky Conference tennis title this weekend in the 22nd Annual Conference Championships at Boise State 1 University. Matches are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, today through Saturday. The Wildacts won last year's meet in Reno, Nev., with a perfect 7-0 record and 56 points. Individually, Jonas Ehrlin defends his number one m singles title and his number two doubles title with teammate Bradley Ferreira. Ehrlin is 9-8 in singles competition this year and 11-3 with Ferreira in doubles. Also back to defend titles for the 'Cats are Nik las van der Schoot at number four singles and at number three doubles with partner Warren Pretorius. Andrew Veasey is a two-time defending champion at number five singles for WSC. "We will be favored, but look fof Nevada-Reno and Boise State to give us a strong challenge," said WSC head coach Keith Cox. "We haven't played either one of those teams this year, so it could mean a few surprises. Watch out for Montana State as a K darkhorse team. They have been playing very well over the past two weeks."
