He has already qualified for the NCAA meet in this event, but his time Saturday move1- him to third on the WSC All-Time list. "Mark ran a conservative race," men's track coach Chick Hislop said. "He was trying to help Paul qualify for nationals. It shows that he's really capable of running a faster time." Henderson was within two seconds of Wayment's time until the last lap when he hit a barrier with his lead leg. When you hit a steeplechase barrier it doesn't go down -you do. That's what happened to Henderson, but he was able to get up and finish in 9:00.9. "If he wouldn't have hit that barrier, it would have been close (to qualifying for nationals)," Hislpo said. "He will have one more chance to qualify at conference in two weeks." In Thursday's .action at the BYU Invitational, many Wildcats had personal bests, even though they didn't place in. this high-powered meet. Tracy Fifield and Chris Weicks went 4-5 in the two-mile run. Fifield finshed in 9:35.3 and Weicks's time was 10:03. 12. Steve Tueller had his best time of the year in the 80-meters as he finished fifth in 1:52.89. Brian McCleary cleared 6-6 and took fourth place in the high jump, followed by Richard Stuart, who took seventh clearing 6-4. In the 400-meters, Greg Stimson and Rob Alexander had personal bests. Stimson's time was 49;28 and Alexander's was 49.38. Bob Durtschi had a personal best in the 1,500-meters with his time of 3:58. Blake West and James Moore both cleared 14 feet in the pole vaults, their best attempts in that event. The Wildcats will now prepare for their conference meet which is scheduled for May 17-18 at NOTICE The SIGNPOST reserves the right to deny or edit classified advertisements on the basis of good taste and propriety. 531 WANTED WANTED Management trainee.
