I am a fan of Dallas and Madam's Place and will certainly be attending, if only to see the Landers sisters in person. 1 know many others who will be attending who otherwise wouldn't. Ms. Leavitt is more practical and realistic than any one of the writers of the negative letters. If we were to leave the selection of the guest emcee up to them, then Jerry Falwell would "bless" the stage on June 4. Ms. Leavitt should receive a Crystal Crest award herself for "best and guttiest decision made in saving an obscure awards ceremony." Does it mean the teachers don't know the importance of essay questions or do they only consider the time multiple choice exams save? As the college student prepares for passing his courses, he often doesn't need to worry about essay questions on his exams. Too often he will find the tests will consist of multiple choice and true -false. The student needn't worry about his writing skills, all that is required is the ability to blacken dots or the drawing of circles or crosses in addition to being lucky Wendy B. Higgins. Brian R. Why, therefore, the use of multiple choice exams and not the essay or both? It is quick to see that it will be an easy work for the teacher to grade many papers with the use of multiple choice. All he needs to do is have a master key with holes over the correct choices and overlap it on top of the student's paper, or even easier, feed the student's answer card through a digital reader. The teacher can't use either method to correct essay questions. He would have to read each one and use his best judgement to determine the points given it. Good points to consider when making the work easier for the teacher when he abhors homework but this neglects the importance of writing skills. O. Awoniyi. Richard O. Baker, Janet L.
