Show Assistant Coach Scott Pelluer Drafted by Dallas by Greg Hill One of Weber's new assistant coaches will be leaving Weber State soon to undertake a new occupation in the National Football League. Scott Pelluer, outside linebackers coach, was drafted in the fourth round of the NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Pelluer, 21, was a four year starter in the outside linebacker position at Washington State. He started in that position this year in the annual East-West Shrine game. He was hired this year as an assistant coach at Weber shortly after Mike Price was named head mentor for the 'Cats. Pelluer was ecstatic about being drafted by Dallas in one of the early rounds. He said that he hoped to be drafted, but wasn't sure he would be picked on the first day of the two day draft. "I was on the field at practice," said Pelluer, "when a trainer ran up and handed me a note that said, 'Call Gil Brandt (director of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys) immediately'." Obeying the words of the note, he ran to Promontory Towers to call Brandt. Being drafted was a highlight for Pelleur, but it was. made more special Softball Season Ends The Lady Wildcat softball team ends up conference play this weekend by hosting Idaho State and Utah State in two conference doubleheaders to be played on Friday and Saturday.Friday's action against Idaho State will begin at 2 p.m., while Saturday's games against Utah State will start at 1 p.m. Both contests will be played r h in" gee? mm wmv because the news came on his birthday. "Evidently the Dallas Cowboys saw something in Scott's character that I have seen, that made them want him. When you get drafted in the fourth round you've got a pretty good chance of making it. They're talking about preparing him to replace D. D. Lewis when he retires," Price said. Price knew that Pelluer would be drafted and said that he would be allowed to take the summer off from his duties at WSC to attend the Dallas try outs. Then, if he doesn't make the team, he would be brought back to coach in the fall. However, since Pelluer was picked in a high round, Price is quite sure that he will make the Cowboys and not be available for coaching. at Wildcat Field, located at the southwest corner of the WSC campus adjacent to Promontory Tower.
