THURSDAYS.. 9:30-11:30 P.M 18 & OVER 4181 Riverdale Road CLASSIC 894"822 SKATING CENTER The 16th annual Big Sky Conference golf championships are scheduled for this Thursday and Friday, May 7 and 8, at the Hill Air Force Base Golf Course. Weber State is the perennial favorite going into the contest. The Wildcats have won the Big Sky golf crown for the last nine years. This year, however Coach Mac Madsen expects stiffer competition than the Wildcats have seen in the past. The strongest challenge should come from the University of Nevada-Reno. The Wolf Pack has been in two tournaments with Weber State over the past month. The Wildcats barely edged UNR in the Fresno State Classic, with scores of 1,161 to 1,165. The two schools faced each other again in the Far Western Intercollegiate Invitational. Weber State pulled away from the Wolf Pack in that contest by 20 strokes. Another team that will give the Wildcats problems is Idaho. They have a fine team and one of the best golfers in the Conference -- Dave Jasper. Idaho has been the 'Bridesmaid' of the Conference golf tournaments, finishing second seven times out. Expected to lead the Wildcats in this week's tournament are: Joel Kranz, Mike Stanton, Greg Whisman, Storm Gliem and Rob Des-pain.The first 18 holes will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, with the second round to be played at 1 p.m. Final round action will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. This is the fifth time that the golf championships have been played in the Ogden area and the second time for the Hill Field Course.
