Show Vatic 10 Signpost May 12, 1978 w eber leads all-sports standings Weber State, in quest of it's first Big Sky Conference All-Sports Trophy since 1970, currently has a seven point lead over defending four time champ Boise State in the race for the 1978 trophy. Six of this year's seven conference championships have been decided and only track and field remains to be added to the totals. The current all-sports standings are: 1) Weber State 41; 2) Boise State 34; 3) Montana 23; 4) STORE HOURS 7 A.M. to MIDNIGHT Idaho State 20; 5) Idaho 18; 6) Northern Arizona 17V, 7) Montana State 15'2 and 8) Gonzaga 9 total points. Pressure The pressure is now on the Wildcat Track Team at the Big Sky Championships to be held May 19-20 at Pocatello. To just tie for the trophy, Boise State would have to win the cconference track title, while WSC would have to finish no better than sixth place. Seven of the eight conference schools (excluding Gonzaga) will compete in the track championships. Host Idaho State is the defending champion in track, while WSC finished in sixth place last year and fifth position the year before that. However, Boise was fourth in last year's Big Sky Track Meet and it's likely that Idaho State and Montana will finish ahead of Boise in this year's meet. Barring a tremendous upset by the Bronocs, WSC can win the all-sprots title this year. The title is symbolic of athletic supremacy in the conference and will cap a stellar year for WSC Athletics. WSC won three conference championships during this athletic year in basketball, cross country and golf.
