Each student will be given an official referendum ballot which lists the present constitution and the proposed constitution. On June 5 at 8:30 a.m. Weber State will hold its 88th annual Commencement exercises. They will be held in the Wildcat Stadium. On May 27 the Utah Geology Association will have a dinner at the Mansion House at 6 p.m. Clyde Hardy from USU will give a slide show on the geology of Central Andes. The cost is $2 for students. t vttx .. Art Exhibits of scultpure, ceramics, graphics and other works will be seen in the annual Weber State College Art Student's show May 17 through June 3. From May 15 through May 29 three art majors Gilbert Rodriquez, Diane Sheldon, and Jerry Pacheco will have original paintings, photos, prints and sculpture on exhibit in the Union Building. "Indian Basket Designs of the Greater Southwest" is on display at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. This display will continue through May 30. Concerts The Weber River Wranglers will be in concert at the Hansen Planetarium on May 28 and 29 at 9:30 p.m. It will be held under the stars. Tickets are $2.50 and are available in advance at the Planetarium. The music is bluegrass style. The Utah Symphony and Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir will join for an historical concert for their contribution to the bicentennial celebration in Ogden at WSC on June 5 at 8 p.m. in the FAC Aucitorium. Theatre The productions at the Lagoon Opera house for this summer are West Side Story May 29-June 26; Irene July 1-July 31; and Wonderful Town Aug. 5-Sept. 4. They show Tuesday through Friday nights at 8: 30 p.m. and at7 and 9: 15p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $3.50. She Stoops to Conquer, the comedy by Oliver Goldsmith, will be performed May 25-29 at the Pioneer Memorial Theatre. Career Placement There are 350 job openings for Data Transcribers. The salary is $1000 a month with bonus and benefits included. Eleven receive top awards Saturday night in the Union Ballroom the Annual Honors and Awards Program was held. The recipients of the awards were Kyle Mat-tson, Man of the Year; Karma Grimm, Woman of the Year; David Page, Talent of the Year, Jeffrey K. Kunz, Scholar of the Year, Terrilee Wingate, chairman of V.I.C.E. (Volunteers in Community and Environment) for Outstanding Organization; Gary Pollard, chairman Homecoming Committee for Achievement of the Year; Bill Murphy, Male Athlete of the Year; Kathy Miller, Female Athlete of the Year; Robyn Wise, Friendliest Girl ; and Dr. Deon Creer, Instructor of the Year. The Silver Chalice Award was also presented Saturday night. It is given to the outstanding woman. Wendy West received it for her involvement, concern, dedication and scholastic achievement during her years at WSC. |
