The magazine is made up of literary contributions by students. It includes essays, poems, short stories, and other literature. The magazine is now on sale in the bookstore and at tables set up around the campus. There is a supply of the magazines and it is required for freshman English classes. Probe returns, has new editor Probe, the official Weber State literary magazine, is now on sale for the first time since last fall quarter. Under the editorship of Mike Richards, the magazine is comprised of articles written by students, faculty and alumni. Einstein, Washington, Nap-oleon; Moses, Michael Angelo, David, and Edgar Allen Poe, cross the mind of the man on the cover of Probe, which was designed by Steve Egan, layout ed-itor and staff artist. Plans are already being drawn up for the next edition of Probe. The staff is sponsoring a writing contest in the form of either Women's rush activities to go full swing in Oct Women's rush will begin af-ter formal rush registration dated for October 1 through 10. A rush fee of $2 will be collect-ed at registration in room 143 of the administration building. Freshmen girls who are reg-Istered for at least 12 hours of Weber state college credit and have maintained a 2.0 GPA from high school as well as all other girls who have carried at least 12 credit hours the previous quarter of attendance with a 2.0 GPA and are carrying at least 12 hours of Weber State College credit, this quarter are eligible to participate in rush. Rush activities will be high-lighted by a tea, to be held Oct. 8 from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. In the union building. All fresh, men girls, not just those who plan to participate in rush, are invited to attend. Representa- a poem or a story, fiction or non-fiction. Entries must be sub-m itted no later than November 30 to the Probe office. Every one is encouraged to submit their writing and as Mike has suggested, buy a copy of Probe and find out the rules. At every meeting he has conducted, at every meeting he has attended, Mike has solicited copies of Probe. The amount published this issue is limited, and since it is a required book for all freshmen students, Mike urges everyone to pick up their copies early. More serious rush activities are planned for Oct. 14. Paula Kunz, women's rush chairman, and Mrs. Mar-va Gregory, dean of women, will be directing activities these nights. Off-campus parties with ad-mittance by invitation only are scheduled for October 15, 16, 17 and 20. In room 143 of the administration building, Oct. 21, preferences must be placed by the girls. Bids from the sorori-ties may be picked up after 10 a.m., October 22. Britain's Lord Harlech will be the first speaker for this year's Weber State College lee ture series Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 8 p.m. The well-known Lord Harlech will pose the question "must the West decline," which is also the title of his book concerning the present trends of western influence. Lord Harlech received close world-wide attention in past months because of rumored romatic ties with Jackie Kennedy prior to her marriage to Aristotle Onassis. Lord Harlech is the father of five children. His wife, Sylvia, died in 1967. A close personal friend of the late President John F. Kennedy, Lord Harlech was British Am-bassador to the United States from 1961 to 1965. His appoint-ment was the result of a re-quest by the late President. His experience in Parliament began in 1950, by 1951 he was secretary to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Lord Harlech also served as alternate British Delegate to the United Nations. In 1957 he was promoted to Minister of State for Foreign WHY DO ENGAGEABLES Affairs. Lord Harlech has la-bored long and hard for unifi-cation of European organiza-tions. It was he who delivered the "Grand Design" speech to the Council of Europe. At 51, Lord Harlech has served in the leadership of "her majesty's loyal opposition" in the House of Lords for the past three years.
