Show Page 12 THE WEBER STATE SIGNPOST September 29, 1967 TnZT WSC Golfers Sponsor Tourney By KENT CALL The fall golf season begins Friday, Sept. 29 with the second annual Patio Springs Collegiate Invitational sponsored by Caoch Mac Madsen and his Weber State gol team. Defending champion BYTJ is favored to repeat its performance of last year. Utah and Utah State join Weber State and BYU for the action. The Weber State Linksters will compete a week later in the Beehive Invitational at Logan. The 54-hoIe event attracts several Rocky Mountain area teams. New Mexico University draws the countries top rated golf teams to Albuquerque for the 72-hole Tucker Invitational. Weber State golfers will participate in the event on Oct. 10-15. Coach Madsen is optimistic about this year's squad. A nucleus of Richard Leferink, who placed third in the Big Sky Championships, and Jim Linke, the team's most consistant golfer, build a solid 1-2 punch for the Wildcats. Returning from a two year mission is Terry Monson. His potential has bolstered Madsens hopes for an improved season. Along with Leferink and Linke are John Cottam, Chris Hyer, and Mike McNally from last year's team. An experienced amateur, Alan Leishman, has come tq WSC and will prove valuable to the golf program. Other young swingers seeking a place on the team are Ken Andrews, Richard Noble, Eugene McCIure, and Bud Sundberg. Coach Madsen urges all men interested in varsity golf competition to contact hi mimmediately. His office is in the gym, and his extension is 359. Announcements Entries are now open for the upcoming flag football event. All interested team managers or pee interested team managers or persons wishing to form a team will meet Friday at 12 noon in G104. At this time the schedule will be drawn up. Interested persons unable to attend may obtain entry forms at the P.E. office. All subsequent meetings will be held Wednesdays at 12 noon in G104. The first general meeting of the Wildcat Ski Club will be held Thursday at 12 noon in Union Building room 106-108. A ski movie will be shown and information will be given for dry -land training, club dance and January trip to Jackson Hole, Wyo.
