Show September 29, 1967 THE WEBER STATE SIGNPOST Page 11 SPORTS by Roger Petersen What's to become of Utah State? This question still looms in the air and as yet has remained unanswered. The adamant Aggies still hold dim view of loing forces with Weber State or the Big Sky conference. Even though Weber and other Big Sky schools are fast approaching the enviable position once held by the Loganites, USU still holds on to the fading hope of getting into the Western Athletic Conference. As a matter of fact that hope, with the recent admission of Texas Western and Colorado State has all but died. This brings the total roster of the WAC to eight teams. The need a league and the Big Sky needs them. The Big Sky will undoubtedly get along without them but it would be an added boost to the conference prestiege. Could the Big Sky do anything for Utah State, for Utah State? We believe It could. Our football program has as yet not reached the full maturity that is expected in the near future, but certainly that future is there. At Weber State our crowds recently pushed over the 13,000 mark. Those 13,000 people would certainly be an added incentive to the waining Aggie gate take. Pocatello is nearby and coult probably do about the same for USU as Weber. Montana State Is already on the Aggie schedule. Montana State was chosen over Fresno State, and, of course, the big game is Weber State and the Univ. of Montana, with Weber State picked to come out on top of that one. The WAC conference holds much interest to those of this area also. One young lady has chosen USU over New Mexico, because she has a boyfriend attending the USU. Another chose Western Michigan over BYU because she had a boyfried on the Cougar Campus. Our"men-in-the-know' chose New Mexico over USU, and BYU over Western Michigan, respectively.
