Johnson, stated a few days ago that "we are not in a dangerous position as far as the concrete work is concerned" and that nothing would stand in the way of the completion of the new sidewalks to the east of the Union Building except temperamental old Mother Nature. From all appearances, it looks like the sun has been shining on WSC. The sidewalk is finished, the plaza between the Fine Arts Center and the Union Building is completed, and the hourly change of classes at Weber State is no longer a muddy nightmare. Landscaping operations have now begun at the dormitories. It is hoped that the sprinkling systems and concrete work will be completed before winter sets . in. Work on seating areas near . the dorms and on playing fields in the back of them will begin in early spring. Trees, grass, and shrubs will be installed in the spring also. Johnson said that the landscaping being done on the campus not only beautifies the surroundings but also keeps erosion and drainage in check. He also stated that all of this beautiful landscaping has a distinct purpose at Weber State. "That is", he said, "to provide places that respect people" --to provide a pleasant environment that is conducive to the academic learning of the students attending Weber State. Johnson made it clear that in order to attain this goal, the cooperation of the students is absolutely required. 4 m .14 Even Santa wants LEVI'S STA-PREST SLACKS this Christmas! 4 This spring many different species of trees will be planted near the library. Mr. Johnson noted that botany classes will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to observe and study the rare trees that will be planted. In 1965 the Utah State Legislature granted $400,000 to Weber State for campus beautification. Johnson stated that the sum seems large, but noted that in reality it isn't large at all. He explained that utilities, storm sewers, repairs and maintenance, and heat bills all are subtracted from this sum. He stated that a request for more funds for beautification NO ONE lU'T VOl" CAN GIVE YOUR PORTRAIT Manv people would like to have it. Many people deserve lo have it. Call us unlaw won't yon'.'
