Show DEWEY'S SALARY. Will Be Compensated at the Rate of 14,-500 14,-500 a Year. Washington, March 7. In the last hours of congress it was provided that the admiral of the navy should receive the pay and emoluments of the last general of the army. This legislation was supplemental to the passage of the bill reviving the grade of admiral for the benefit of Admiral Dewey. Its effect is to give Admiral Dewey compensation com-pensation at the rate of S14.500 a year. Of this amount 813,000 is the regulation pay of an admiral of the navy, the extra 81,."00 being the allowance made to the general of the army of S125 per month for quarters. |
