A shipment of tifteeu tons of high tirade ore was started for Salt, Lake from the Apex mine this morning. Captain Adam Paul retimed from Bunkerville last Saturday, and left with Charles F. Dodge on Tuesday for Bull Valley to examine prospects there. .Tames G. Wilder and party, of Silver lleefand Leeds, passed through here en route home Sunday. They have a good thins? in Bull Valley, and intend returning- in about a week to push development. The new furnaces have been built at the Dixie mines and are running in first-class shape. The first run was made Wednesday, w hen three tons of copper bullion was run out. Later Friday about noon it became necessary to close down the smelter at the Apex mine owing' to the furnace linings burning' out. A substitute for the firebrick will be found and smelting resumed at an early date. In the meantime the shipments of high grade ore will continue, and the low grade ore stacked on the ground. Will Terhune says the smelting' test demonstrates demon-strates that the ore is of the highest quality, it being practically self fluxing, flux-ing, and the showing made at the run just closed magnificent. Mr. Terhune leaves for Salt Lake Monday, and Mr. Old will leave later to ha . e a' conference confer-ence with his associates regarding future work. |
