Show The Secretary of Agriculture, Hon. James Wilson, of Iowa, who has recently re-cently completed an extensive tour of the West, is much impressed with the po.Vibiiitie.; of the Western country th;-on,h irrigation. Oufc of an appropriation appro-priation of ?:;5, 000, made by last Congress, Con-gress, his department is making a bread investigation of the subject in tho arid region. The cooperation of ;u" Agricultural Department and the iieohigieal .Survey: will bring together inuirmation about irrigation, watcr-supnly watcr-supnly and lands suitable for reclamation, reclama-tion, which will enable Congress to determine exactly what can bo done in the West. It then only remains for tho Western people to state their demands, thru their Congressmen, as one voice, to secure the recognition from the National Government which they have been denied thus far thru inability to "get together" pu a broad national irrigation policy, thus giving the. Eastern men a good excuse for refusing the West its proper share, of reeoi'.-uition and appropriation. |
