Dear Bro. : Thinking that a few lines from your Bro. and fellow laborer in the cause of truth would not be amiss, I take pleasure in writing you this letter, which you may publish if you desire. In writing this I have two objects in view; first to show my appreciation of our home paper, for I do appreciate iiand watch for it thro the mail as I would for a letter, many items of news which I didn't appreciate appreci-ate at home are appreciated out here; secondly to correct a false report that got out and was published in the "Deseret News" as well as leading papers in this county a short time ago, in regard to my companion, Elder Turman, and I getting mobbed in Webster Co., Kentucky. In the first place Webster Co. is jn the extreme western part of the state from where I am laboring-, 'and secondly the whole thing' was a trumped up affair designed to excite and stir the people up against the elders. The only thing it could have started from, that I know of, was as follows: One day while we were holding meetings in a certain district, ' a man came around pretending to be our friend and told us he had heard men around the neighborhood talking and he believed our necks were in danger; but we didn't think there was any particular danger,' as we had a number of friends, Bo stayed and held one of the best meetings we had had and made friends of most of them. ' The people in' this county' are very hospitable and free with what they have, most pf the hi being farmers and. coal diggers. We have a great many friends and more enemies, but we don't look for anything else, altho I haven't any cause to complain as I have assists ed in uniting ten honest souls to the fold of Christ, and expect to baptize that many more before very long if I am left in this county. In my mission- ary blessing I was promised that I would be able to accomplish, a gpod mission and that my heart would ' be filled with joy and gladness because pf the testimonies given me of the truth. I can testify that this has been fulfilled in every respeot thus far, and I haven't been sick an hour since arriving in my field of labor last June, I have been laboring with Elder Peter Anderson of Morgan Co. Utah the last three weeks. We have had a long dry summer, but during the last two weeks there has been a great change and fall is coming on in earnest, Your Bro. in the Gospel, Elder E. B.
