president W W of the kanab stake a goodly number 0 the high council bishops and saints pres edw H snow presided pres thos P cotham welcomed the saints and expressed the thought that it was good to bring the conference to the people of hurricane said we lead in many things but in some ve must make amends especially teaching and meeting attendance many of the best men in the church were here in the early settle hoped the sons and daughters of these men would emulate their example the lord had blessed this land tor the good of the people many more cities may yet be built in this dixie country this will be a blessed land for us it we are faithful pay our tithes etc we should all be honest and virtuous and take advantage of no one should lire up to the high ideals of the church hoped we should all be found worthy to assemble with each other in the next life bishop frel of santa clara stated he got his inspiration from the at eil dance at these conferences gave an account of the desire to improve the record of this stake elder A jr T gave a good talk on the duties 0 latter day saints told ot how he was blessed while on his mission said many desired to have the sulphur springs open on the sabbath day but this would be ruinous to you and your children bishop allson spoke of the great strength of the gospel and the great benefit in our meeting together man lack in faith stated that he had been much pleased with the spirit of the conference and the themes ot the previous speakers told ot the great increase in the streams of the state through the blessings of the lord and the great crops now being grown on lands once waste and dry thought the of this county would soon double because of our abundant land and water facilities spoke of the educational facilities of the state and the great interest in these matters by the L D S church we should all recognize the and of the lord in our many blessings of peace and plenty we should all pay au honest tithing and assist the church in its great work bishop samuel isom said he considered the bringing of the conference to hurricane a great blessing to the community referred to the spirit of the lord as gained by the saints through good works and how important it is that we keep this spirit thereby the teachings of the gospel if we would pay a full tithing th lord would bless us we must be a tried people and blessings will come through our trials the lord wants us to prosper but we must not give all our time in seeking wealth we should do our duty we can only tell who Is a lat ter day saint by the records
