Show Dixie College News Newell R. Frei, principal of the Woodward high school, addressed the members of the Dixie College Faculty Women's Club at the initial in-itial meeting of the year last Thursday afternoonlJ He discussed the geography, history; culture and i government of the United States... ,.: ' , : - r , ;- . The club meets each two' weeks and' will hear- speakers discuss similar aspects of different countries coun-tries of the World. Business of the meeting included includ-ed the election of a friendship committee, consisting of Mrs. Glenn E. Snow and Mrs. A. K. Hafen. The meeting was in charge of Mrs. T. Wendell Bayles, president, her vice presidents, Mrs. Earl Cottam and Mrs. E. Ellis Everett, and Mrs. Ken Parkinson, secretary. secre-tary. The Alpha Theta club, consisting consist-ing of home economic students, will study the subject of charm this year. The group met on the evening of October 3 to discuss plans for the year. Mrs. Ken Parkinson, instructor, together with Betty Lou Gardner and Vivian Snow will represent the College at the University of Utah workshop on October 18 and 19. The first student body play to be produced this year has been selected, announces Miss Myrtle Henderson,, director. The selection selec-tion is "Grand Old Darling," a comedy by Nate Foster Holmes. Miss Henderson will read excerpts ex-cerpts from the play next Monday, Mon-day, and tryouts will take place later in the week. The student body budget of S2295 was allotted to departments at a student council meeting Monday night. The distribution is as follows: Yearbook S800, athletics ath-letics S500, lyceum S250, miscellaneous miscel-laneous fund S275, newspaper $S0, band S60, debating S50, business S50, women's athletics $50, boys' club SoO, dramatics S30. assemblies assem-blies S30, and girls' club S25. The allotment was made on the basis of need and the extent to which the department is self-sustaining. H. L. Reid. Miss Linna Snow and Victor Iverson representsd Washington county at a meeting of the Southern Utah Teachers' association in Beaver last Saturday. Satur-day. The main business was the nomination of officers for- the coming year. Jack Ware has been appointed superintendent of the L. D. S. Institute Sunday School. The school is conducted each Sunday morning at the Institute building, particularly for out-of-town students. stu-dents. The Omega Delta club, dramatic dram-atic fraternity, is working on a one-act play, "The Strangest Feeling," by John Kirkpatrick. The play will Ik? presented at various schools in this part of the state. Taking part are Annette An-nette Pendleton, Elwyn Cameron. Olive Brooks. Joyce Bithcll. Elaine Short and Robert Gardner. The club, met on Octotwr 4 in a work meeting. Renovation and cleaning of the stage and scenery-was scenery-was the order of the evening. Dixie college teachers left this morning for Salt Lake City to attend at-tend a three day institute of the Utah Education Association. School is dismissed today and tomorrow. to-morrow.
