Show Coach Stan Watts' Athletes Travel To Cedar City for Track, Field and Tennis Meet Coach Stan Watts' athletes will travel to Cedar City Saturday to engage the Aggies in a return triple competition meet. Track and field, softball and tennis are the sports involved. The B. A. C. won out track and field, also in tennis, at the meet held here last Friday. The Flyers trounced the Aggies in softball 11-6. In the track and field contest the B. A. C. was victorious 80-50. The locals succeeded in taking only four firsts. Church took two of these, in the shot put and in the 100-yard dash. He also scored in the broad jump and in the 220-yard 220-yard dash to tie Whatcott of the Aggies as high-point man of the meet with 14 points. Brooks took a first in the high jump, also scored in the 100-yard dash, pole vault and broad jump for a total of 11 points. Stratton scored first in the 120-yard high hurdles. Others to win points for Dixie were Schmutz, Riding, Fry and Hammond. Dixie won a lone match in ten-is, ten-is, losing three. A fifth match was rained out. Phil Robison downed Jan.sen of the B. A. C. 6-8, 6-1, 6-1. Fordham and Brooks lost their singles matches, and were defeated again when they paired for the lone doubles match played. The Dixie high track team placed plac-ed third in an invitational meet at Hurricane last Friday. Bvavcr walked away with the meet, but Virgin Valley, Dixie and Hurricane fought it out for second, third and fourth respectively. Virgin scored 35'2, Dixie 34 38 and Hurricane Hurri-cane 32 38. Myrl Riding was the only Dixie athlete to score a first. He won the mile run. George Fry, Willard Stratton and Kent Hansen also did well for Dixie. |
