Show Rockvilje First Town In County To Reach Fifth War Loan Drive Quota r Leeds Also Reports Reaching Its Quota Says Glenn E. Snow Monday, June 12th, marked the opening of the Fifth War Loan drive, and in Washington county. Rockville was the first to report having raised their quota of $8,700. By daylight on Monday morning their report was in the hands of Senator Claud Hirschi at Hurricane, who passed the word along. On Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, the town of Leeds also reported re-ported their full quota raised. Applies Same Procedure 1 Rockville set a precedent in their Red Cross drive and applied the same procedure in raising their Fifth War Loan quota. "It worked", state committee mem- ! bers, Waldon Ballard, Hober Hirschi Hir-schi and Marvin Terry. The town was organized with every individual indi-vidual responsible. The people came to church Sunday Sun-day afternoon all primed for the drive and carrying their money with them. At the close of church the individual and family contributions contri-butions were collected, and the few people not attending were visited at their homes. As a result re-sult the quota was raised with a minimum of effort and at daylight day-light Monday morning the committee com-mittee announced they were over' the top. Details of how Leeds proceeded with their drive are not available, but they have raised their quota, and it is understood other towns are well on their way. However, $225,000 is a sizable sum to raise, reminds the county loan drive officials of-ficials and unless every town raises its full quota, the goal will not be reached. Sales are moving slow "in some sections, but committees com-mittees are getting started and it is hoped the sales will begin to climb by the end of this week. Many Boys In the Serv ice T "Every town in the county," declares de-clares Glenn E. Snow, county drive chairman, "has a big representation represent-ation of boys on the battle fronts. What these boys can do, how soon , they can complete their assign- ' ments, and how much their living conditions can be improved and their supplies of food and other 1 essentials increased, depends en- : tirely on the home front, and that 1 means the Fifth War Loan drive. : Many boys are already writing home of the increased supplies re- i suiting from the last drive and many are urging thir families to I buy every bond they can to speed the work along. The boys themselves them-selves are buying many bonds and this is, in a way, their challenge to the home front, and their evidence evi-dence of faith in the eventual outcome of the conflict". "In behalf of the future of your sons and your right to enjoy the security their hazardous service is purchasing, get behind the Fifth War Loan drive with dollars that will count," urges the central committee. |
