Show 'Lookin' Lovely', Comedy Drama Given High Praise "Lookin' Lovely", the three-act comedy drama presented by the West ward M. I. A. as their contribution con-tribution to the 1940-41 budget program and directed by Ann R. Price, was a riot from start to finish, as evidenced by the reaction re-action of the large audiences who witnessed the performances last Thursday and again this Wednesday Wednes-day night in the college auditorium. auditor-ium. The entire cast was well-chosen, well-chosen, showed perfect balance and thorough training throughout, and would score high with their performance on any stage. Every part was so nicely handled, han-dled, it would be impossible to mention the work of one without paying like tribute to every other member of the cast. The trusting sweetness of Mary Lou Wells and courageous spirit of Emjly Brooks, the two friends who made mud baths desirable; the bashfulness of Wilford Cannon and quick wit of his companion, Jack Rencher as the duo of heroes; the droll drawling drawl-ing of Grant Whitehead as Sheriff Hawkins, and sureness with which the Postmistress Roma Reber, settled affairs of life for him; the poise and self-assurance of Donna Judd as the upper crust of the town; the business ideas of Marion Bowler as Moe Skinsky and agreeableness of his English companion, Vere Barnhurst, Lela Sullivan as the efficient black mammy cook, and the pranks of two youngsters Clair and Flora Brooks, gave the audience top interest in-terest every moment of the play and kept them in frequent uproars up-roars of laughter. The director and the entire cast were heartily applauded and commended com-mended after each performance, and the house was packed to capacity ca-pacity both nights. |
