Show Dixie College News Boys' day activites on April 7th will include a fun program in the morning assembly and a Softball game in the afternoon, with the lower division students playing against the upper division and faculty. fac-ulty. The program will be a revue re-vue of the doings of the girls of the college during the year and a prevue of girls' day on April 21. Darrel Hafen, Boy's club president, is in charge of the activities of the day. D. J. C. The lawns east ' of the Temple will be the scene for the presentation presen-tation of "The Messiah", sacred oratorio, at sunrise on Sunday, April 9. This site has been selected select-ed by J. W. McAllister, director of the oratorio, as very fitting for the occasion. D. J. C. The college chorus, augmented by musicians from the town, will make the presentation. This group has been practicing regularly. regular-ly. Special rehersals for townspeople townspeo-ple are being held each Monday and Thursday evening, and Mr. McAllister takes this means of inviting still more singers to participate. par-ticipate. Those who would like to take part are asked to contact him or meet with the group at re-hersal re-hersal time. D.J.C. Mrs. Lucille Hardy was elected president of the college Faculty Women's club in a meeting held last Thursday evening. Mrs. Pauline Paul-ine Christensen was named first vice president and Miss Myrtle Henderson second vice president. Mrs. Iris Bentley was chosen as secretary-treasurer. D. J. C. The municipal problems class will continue each Monday evening, eve-ning, according to Pres. Glenn E. Snnw who conducts the class. Citizens who are interested in discussing dis-cussing current problems, local, state and national, are invited to attend. D. J. C. H. L. Reid will review the book, "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo", at a meeting of the Omega Delta club tonight at the home of Walter Snow. Mr. Snow and Miss Virgie Goates will entertain en-tertain the group. Games and stunts of the evening will stress good conversational English. D. J. C Dixie college patrons are invited to join with students in a special assembly treat Friday morning at 11 o'clock. At that time Mrs. Edna Crowther Ririe, mezzo-soprano mezzo-soprano soloist, pictorial lecturer and teacher of speech and song, will present an entertainment and cultural program in the college auditorium. Mrs. Ririe is known nationally, and press comments over the country praise her ability and versatility. She is a student of Edmund J. Myer of Carnegie Hafl in New York City. She has taught at the University of Southern South-ern California, Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural college, the Ogden high school, Civic Center adult classes and nursery schools. Mrs. R.irie's program Friday will consist of solos, chants, poems, stories and vocal comparisons. The public is invited to attend without charge. |
