Show Don't Be A 'Job Hopper' Advises C. E. Pickett C. E. PICKETT Don't be a job hopper: The job hopper works at a factory, a mine an army or navy depot, or in some other important war job. That's fine . . . he's helping to win the war. But. then . . .all too frequently . . . the job hopper hears of a better job in the neighboring neigh-boring plant . in some other-city, other-city, where the weather is warmer, warm-er, or the wages are said to be higher, so he hops off to a new job. That's not good, he's hurting our war effort, because it takes lost time and lost money to replace re-place him. lie wastes vital transportation trans-portation facilities, he makes worse the already overcrowded housing facilities in each new location. lo-cation. He's a willing and patriotic war worker, but he does more harm than good because he doesn't does-n't keep the rules, he isn't playing the game. Employment stabilization is planned, organized, use of labor in the war work program. It's a plan in which everybody helps. So don't be a job hopper: If you have good reason to quit your war job, First talk to your employer and to your U. S. Employment Service about your rights and obligations under the stablization plan. |
