Show Military Services To Be Held for Mess Sgt. Walter M. Moss Military funeral services will be held in the St. George stake Tabernacle Tab-ernacle this (Thursday) at 6 p. m., for Mess Sgt. Walter McAllister Moss, 31, who was killed in a motor vehicles accident at 12:30 a. m., Thursday, Aug. 19, while enroute from maneuvers in Louisiana Louis-iana to his training post at Camp Howze, Texas. Born in St. George Sept. 12, 1912, he was a son of the late David A. and Jane McAllister Moss. He had his schooling in St. George, completing high school and attending Dixie junior college before entering his father's profession pro-fession of painter and interior decorator. dec-orator. He had been employed in defense work at Las Vegas for 18 months prior to his military-induction military-induction Jan. 7, 1943. On Mar. 6, 1932 he was married in Parowan to Miss Darley Cran-dall, Cran-dall, daughter of Mrs. Mina Crandall of Springville. A year later they were remarried in the St. George L.D. S. Temple. They have no children. Immediately after his induction, Mess Sgt. Moss was assigned to the ordnance department of Camp Howze, Texas, and was transferred transfer-red from there June 15 to Louisiana Louis-iana for maneuvers. This program continued until Aug. 18, and he was returning to Camp Howze when the accident occurred which cost his life. Surviving besides his mother, Mrs Jane M. Moss of St. George, are his wife, Darley Crandall Moss of Las Vegas; two sisters, Mrs. Jed Denning of Renton, Wah and Mrs. LaVar Shurtz of Salt Lake City; and seven brothers: Edgar Moss and George Moss of American Fork; Leon Moss of Los Angeles; William Moss of Sandy, Gilbert Moss of Salt Lake City; Carl L. Moss of St. George and Major Clarence Moss of NashviUe, Tenn Edgar Moss is a disabled Veteran of World War I in which Leon Moss, also served. Gilbert Moss served later with the Mar ines in China and is now con n0rtl with the air service. |
