Show Dixie College News Dr. Meredith Wilson, of the University Uni-versity of Utah history department, depart-ment, will address the graduates in the Dixie college commencement commence-ment exercises on May 19. The combined Institute-Seminary and Baccalaureate services will be conducted con-ducted on May 14th. Details of the two pragrams are now being worked out, with Mrs. Pauline Christiansen as chairman of the committee in charge. D.J.C. Another outstanding picture has been added to the Dixie college art collection. It is the water color study, "The Old Mill", painted by Glen Turner. - Mr. Turner is art instructor at the Springville high school. He is well known throughout the inter-mountain inter-mountain region for his exceptional excep-tional work in water colors. The picture has been on display at the college since the time of the Fine Arts Festival early in March. D. J. C. John Clarke, Dixie Institute instructor in-structor now on leave of absence at the University of Southern California, has received word he will be permitted to remain in school to work for his- Ph. D. degree. He expects to receive this coveted honor in the spring of 1945, D. J. C. Mrs. Merlin Milne received the sponsorship of the War Bond Scholarship committee. The drawing draw-ing took place at the dance revue last Friday night. D. J. C The German and Spanish students stu-dents of the college 'will give the assembly program Friday morning morn-ing at 11 o'clock, with A. K. Hafen in charge. The public is invited to attend. D. J. C. Homer Christensen, Delta, was elected president of the Dixie college col-lege student body last week. He will take office at the close of this school year. Miss Beulah Blake, St. George, is the new vice persident. Other winners are: Joan Garner Gar-ner and Eldon Hafen, St. George, commissioners o f amusements ; Elna Gardiner, Panguitch, Girls' club president; and Dean Webb, St. George, Boys' club president. The final election was held last Wednesday, following a week of campaigning. |
