Show Seen and Heard 'Round the Town One often doesn't realize how many genuine friends they have until, like is our case, sickness hits. The many offers to help in any and every way have been sincerely appreciated as have the wishes for Mr. Simpson's speedy recovery. Evidently they have helped as he is definitely better today. It will, however, probably be some time before he can help get this paper out. Under present war-time conditions, condi-tions, with extra help in the printing trades so difficult to get, we find it. necessary, at least "for (the duration" of Mr. Simpson's jllness to discontinue publication of the News Shopping Guide. It has been an added expense as well as a great deal of extra work to the News staff. However, How-ever, if conditions justify, we may be able to resume it at a later date. The News force is sorry to report re-port that much of the copy which came in did not get into stype, due to lack of space as well as time. The legal notices for both city and county had to be run this week and of necessity threw us entirely off on our space and we were without time to do much about it. Then too, there has to be some politicking this week too. We hope we do better next week. |
