Show Montana Favors La Follette Great Falls, Mont. Presidential electors chosen by the Montana Farmer-Labor party at the May' primary prim-ary election were pledged to Senator La Follette of Wisconsin at a con-frence con-frence here of the executive committee commit-tee of the party. The action taken was opposed by State Senator G. E. 'Taylor, chairman of the recent St. Paul convention of the Farmer-Labor party, on the ground that the preference prefer-ence of Duncan McDonald, the party's nominee for president, should first be learned. Officials of the party said, however, that a formal manifesto issued is-sued at St. Paul by William Mahoney, vice chairman of the St. Paul convention conven-tion and a member of the national executive committee, upon McDonald to withdraw in favor of La Follette, but that there has not been sufficient time for a reply. The similarity of the St. Paul and Cleveland platforms and the need of uniting the two political poli-tical units were given as reasons for Mahoney's request that McDonald withdrawal. |
