Show Farmers Urged To Apply For FSA Aid At Once Community, Cooperative Service Loans Will Be Made To Farm Groups Farmers in Washington County who will need operating funds in 1941 and who can not get adequate credit elsewhere, should make application ap-plication to the Farm Security Administration Ad-ministration immediately, according accord-ing to DeVaughn Jones, County FSA Supervisor. Funds in the form of loans are available to qualified farmers for the purchase of feed, seed, tools, livestock, and other equipment necessary to carry on farming operations. "The Farm Security administration administra-tion was created to help needy and low-income farm families and we invite the farm operators in Washington County to come in and discuss their problems with us. We may be able to help them," said Mr. Jones. Mr. Jones explains that his agency has a number of programs designed to help troubled farm families in addition to that of making rehabilitation loans to individual in-dividual farmers. Among these loans are community services, farm debt adjustment services and tenure ten-ure improvement. Community and Cooperative Service loans will be made by the FSA to groups of qualified farmers farm-ers to buy sprayers, pure-bred sires, manure spreaders, tractor, where land justifies, plows, binders and many other services and facilities facili-ties which a single farmer could not afford alone. For farmers in Washington (Continued on page eight) Farmers' FSA Aid (Continued from front page) County who are overburdened with old debts, the FSA offers help to have debts reduced within their ability to repay. This service is available without cost to all farmers, whether or not they take part in other phases of this agency's program. Mr. Jones explained that a local farm debt adjustment committee meets with the debtor and his creditors for a discussion of their mutual problems. These meetings often result in an agreement for extending the time of payment, reducing interests rates, scaling down the debt, or refinancing part of it through an FSA rehabilitation rehabilita-tion loan. In this way, the former is saved form foreclosure, and the creditors get substantial payments on what might otherwise have been bad debts. Mr. Jones said that emphasis is placed on long-term or renewable renew-able contracts and on agreements which will encourage the tenant to protect the soil and improve the property. Flexible farm-lease forms are obtainable free at the FSA office and the personnel will be glad to assist in drawing them up for the landlords and tenants. "I feel certain there are many farmers and landlords in Washington Washing-ton County who need the services of this agency and I wish to issue an invitation to everyone to visit our office in the Snow Furniture Building on Mondays and Fridays and give us a chance to be of help," said Mr. Jones. The Farm Security Administration Administra-tion is a branch of the U. S. Department De-partment of Agriculture. It is maintained by and for the people of this country, and we want to help all farm families who need help. |
