Show Dixie Junior College To Sponsor J Eugene Gash, Celebrated Negro Concert Pianist According to press notices, the Dixie lovers of good piano music are to have a real treat on Monday Mon-day evening, Mar. 6th, at , 8 o'clock in the college auditorium. At that time the celebrated Negro pianist, Eugene Gash, will give a concert under the sponsorship of the piano department of the Dixie college. The New York Herald Tribune says: "His playing gave a first impression of marked technical talent and confidence; his fingers are agile and assured. He possesses pos-sesses ample energy manifested not at the expense of dynamic control, and, for the .most part, his music was presented with a clarity of outline and detail". 'Other reviews of his work are equally flattering. Mr. Gash, in fact, has been acclaimed by critics as the first great virtuoso pianist of his race. The piano department of the college, says Mrs. Janice Merrill, who is directly responsible for bringing Mr. 5ash here, is bringing bring-ing this .gifted musician to St. George for a dual purpose. One is that the piano students of this vicinity may get some real inspiration; inspir-ation; the other purpose is. to give the music lovers of this section sec-tion an evening of classical enjoyment. en-joyment. The following program is outlined out-lined for the concert: Two So-natos, So-natos, Scartatti; Prelude and Fuge in A Minor, Bach-Liszt; Symphonic Sym-phonic Etudes, Schumann; Barcarolle Bar-carolle Opus 60, Chopin; Etude No. 1 Op. 25 and Etude No. 1 Post Op., Chopin; Ballade, A flat major, Chopin; March, "Love of Three Oranges," Prokofieff; Berceuse, Ber-ceuse, Ely .
