Show Songs of Utah Pioneers Featured In Sunday Night Community Sing Sunday evening's Community Sing centered around the song themes of the Utah pioneers, several numbers num-bers of that period being used, including in-cluding "Come, Come Ye Saints", the song of the Plains, "Utah, We Love Thee", and other associated numbers. Mrs. Mae A. Pace conducted con-ducted with Paul Thompson at the piano. Miss Irma Hafen led the salute to the Flag. Along with the Stars and Stripes, the Utah State emblem was also exhibited and Miss Tillie Winsor gave a short history of statehood with that of Utah's flag. The special song number was titled, "My Own Dear Mountain Home", and was composed by Wiliam Thompson in Providence, R. I., before he emigrated to Utah. It was sung as a quartet by his daughter, Mrs. Lorin A. Little, granddaughter, Mrs. Olive Hirschi; his son, George T. Thompson Thomp-son and grandson, G. Carlyle Thompson, with Paul Thompson, accompanist. Mrs. Pace reported there would be a Community Sing again next Sunday and that special numbers are being prepared. |
