Show Dixie Fine Arts Festival i i Starts Tonight With College Piay " 'Time For Romance,' With An All-Girl Cast an- Will Be Featured Event With the arrival of 15 paintings me.-, from the B. Y. U. Monday, a touch se T; of color is added to the Dixie Fine he r" Arts Festival which starts to-i to-i night and continues through to-anjj to-anjj i morrow. The B. Y. U. contributors are nearly all former Dixie people, r indicating that the Festival has vO, a tendency to become a permanent perma-nent part of those it has touched nd in the past. Among the paintings are those of B. F. Larson, Edgar 'CE M. Jenson and Verla Birrell of ... the B. Y. U. faculty and those of lel(1;s Roman Andrus, Gwen Sylvester and Evelyn Hawkins, former Dixie students and . now art majors. Ralph Huntsman and his students OKI at Dixie will display a large num-h num-h ber of pictures and sketches. The exhibit is already open but will j i be stressed tonight and tomorrow ; nights after the Festival play. : Si The Festival, play, "Time for : S Romance," featuring an all-girl ! S cast, will be presented tonight and ! s tomorrow night at 8:15 in the ) $i college auditorium. This is an .00 ii excellent play, states Miss Myrtle Henderson, director, and gives an unusual Opportunity for character . portrayal. Each character is dif-IEC dif-IEC ferent and portrays its individual philosophy of life. The play as a whole portrays the tangles of human relationship intermingled with quiet comedy. The parts are characterized by ten outstanding Dixie co-eds. I An outstanding program of j music, under the direction of Earl 1 J. Bleak and Miss Barbara Ras-mussen, Ras-mussen, will be presented Friday morning form 12 to 1. The num-vou( num-vou( bers include a string ensemble, j : a reed ensemble, a brass ensem-0 ensem-0 ; ble, a brass quartet, a violin trio, a vocal solo, a piano solo and a f W two-piano number. The two-piano i number is an arrangement by Miss Rasmussen of Tschaikow-I Tschaikow-I sky's "Concerto in B-flat minor." The music numbers will feature )"t the students of Mr. Bleak and j Miss Rasmussen. ( Ralph Huntsman is general chairman of the Festival. He is ; assisted by those who have the 0J programs in charge. |
