Show Relief Societies Stress Need For War Effort Need for Proper Teachings In Home Given Special Attention "Fortifying the Home Front," was the theme presented in the ward Relief Society conference programs pro-grams held Sunday by the local wards, with music, singing and dramatizations being combined in putting over the subject. The East and Center wards united for their programs in the stake Tabernacle at 6 p. m., a large audience being reported. The two presidents, Mrs. Moroni McArthur of the East ward and Mrs. Donald Schmutz of the Center Cen-ter ward were in charge, with President Schmutz introducing the numbers. Congregational Singing Congregational singing was under un-der the direction of Mrs. Gerald Blake of the East ward with Mrs. Earl J. Bleak accompanying; prayer, Mrs. Rex Gardner of the stake Relief Society board; reports re-ports of the organization by the respective presidents, Mrs. McArthur Mc-Arthur and Mrs. Schmutz; presentation pre-sentation of officers for vote of approval by the secretaries of each ward; chorus, "I Love A (Continued on page eight) Relief Society Conf. (Continued from first page) Little Cottage", the East ward ladies' chorus; dramatizations, the visiting teacher topic, Mrs. M. L. McAllister, of the East ward; Theology lesson, Velma Bayles, with the Leo G. Smith family participating; the home topic, Mrs. Arnold McArthur assisted by Virginia and Velma Schmutz; the literary lesson, with the family of Pres. Harold S. Snow in the drama; social service, Mrs. J. C. Snow in charge, featuring the Carlyle Thompson family. All subjects were interestingly presented, pre-sented, the program closing with the number, "Home Sweet Home" by the Center ward ladies' chorus and prayer by Bishop Arthur Cot-tam Cot-tam of the East ward. In the West ward, the program with held at 3 p. m., in the Re lief Society room of the new ward chapel, which was filled to capacity, with ward members Counselor Vernon Worthen of the stake presidency; Leila Atkin of the stake M.I. A.; and Kate B. Empey, stake secretary officially attending. The room was decorated decor-ated with baskets and jars of fall roses and chrysanthemums. Margie Dalton, ward president, conducted the program. Mrs. William E. Baker sang, "The Lord Is My Shepherd", accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Edward Christian Christ-ian and Mrs. Rex Gardner on the violin. and piano; and the Wayne C. Gardner family was featured in the development of the theme, "Fortifying the Home Front," with the various lesson subjects introduced intro-duced by leaders. |
