Show Sheriff Reports Arrests of Four Thieves Cars of Thieves Piled High With Loot Worth Hundreds of Dollars A tip from the sheriff at Nephi to be on the look-out for two women in a car who had buglar-ized buglar-ized a home in Nephi and stolen $900 in money, resulted in their arrest here last night. ' Sheriff Antone B. Prince and City Marshall Mar-shall Bert Truman made the arrest. ar-rest. Investigation of the women's car also revealed that it contained con-tained over $500 worth of guns, ammunition and high-class tools. In checking over the women's loot Sheriff Prince found that they had six guns and 32 boxes of shells to fit the guns. Also approximately ap-proximately half a gunny sack full of shotgun shells. The loot also included all kinds of high-grade high-grade tools. The $900 was still intact when the arrest was made and was reclaimed by the sheriff. The women gave their names as Mrs. Billie Eva Ballow and her daughter, 19 years of age. They claimed that they were from Texas. The women are being held in the county jail pending the arrival of the Juab county sheriff. Two Men Arrested The arrest Sunday, Aug. 6 of William Delbert Davis, 21, of National City, Calif, and Eugene Redwine, 17, Compton, 'Calif., brought to a close the criminal activities of these two men which in the last two weeks resulted in over 100 thefts. They were arrested by Sheriff Antone Prince following a call from Mesquite urging that he be on the look-out for them. With the two men when they were arrested were two women. Sheriff Prince held them for several sev-eral days but was unable to bring any charges against them so they were released. The F.B.I, spent two days here investigating and interrigating the men with the result that they got confessions from the men regarding thefts of the following items : A 1937 Chevrolet, stolen in San Bernardino; a '41 Chevrolet stolen in Yuma, Ariz.; a '37 Chevrolet, stolen in Compton, Calif, and a '39 Chrysler, which they were driving when arrested, stolen in Compton. In addition to this, they confessed to the stealing of two wheels and tires and a jack at Beaver Dam. This equipment was in the car when they were arrested ar-rested together with a battery, generator and push jack taken in Mesquite which were also in their possession. They sold a set of tools in Mesquite for $15 that were valued at $100 and had been stolen in Boulder City. The men reported that their hide-out was in a river bed near Tia Juana. The men are being held here by the sheriff pending the arrival of the U. S. Marshall from Salt Lake City. They will be taken to Salt Lake to await trial by the Federal Government. |
