Show Leeds CCC Boys Win Field Day Contest Between Camps of Southern Utah LEEDS, Utah. At the Southern Utah's CCC Field Day held at the Leeds camp, the home team came through with the honors after a close and interesting meet. The final score was Leeds 59, Hurricane Hurri-cane 46 and Bridge Mountain 31. Stan Malensek came through with high honors, netting a total of 20 points out of the 59 total scored by his team. It was his skill in nail driving, his strength and ability in log chopping and his determination in post-hole digging dig-ging that brought the honors for his team. The high-light of the day's events was the sofeball game between be-tween Leeds and Hurricane. Leeds came from behind to win a thriller and place them well ahead of their nearest competitor. "Shorty" Smith and Stan Malensek Mal-ensek made a determined stand in log sawing after it appeared that their chances to win were small by cutting the already fast time of 37 seconds set by the Hurricane boys to 33 seconds. All of the work events demonstrated demon-strated the fine training of the boys given by the technical services serv-ices of the camps. A thrilling climax to the affair af-fair was the retreat ceremony at the Leeds camp where boys from all three camps stood in respect to the Flag of our country after an athletic battle of valor, but of peace and good will toward each other. |
