Dixie Roimd-Up Gets Under Way . . , First Parade Scheduled for Today At 4:30; Rodeo Starts At 8 Many Professional Cowboys To Be Here To Provide All of the Thrills of A Big Time Rodeo Show Under Dixie Arena Lights The colorful and exciting seventh annual Dixie Round-Up officially got underway last night with the cowboy dance held in the Recreation Recre-ation hall. Today's events will start with the big annual Rodeo parade at 4 p. m., and will follow fol-low through with the Rodeo and dance following it in the Recreation Recre-ation hall. Each year since its inauguration seven years ago under the sponsorship spon-sorship of the Lions and American Ameri-can Legion, this annual event has grown in interest and color. The Lions give a great deal of their time as a unit, and those in charge of major committees donate do-nate a considerable amount of their time to see that the Rodeo and all its inter-locking events go off on schedule and in a manner pleasing to the spectators. With the master showman, Paul F. Hill in charge and with the show being presented under the lights, the Dixie Round-Up is one of the unique shows in this section sec-tion of the country. Those attending attend-ing last year were high in their praise of the entire show. Parades Every effort is being made to continue con-tinue the high standard set by the parades of other years. Present Pres-ent indications are that this year's will again measure up. Especially inerest seems to be developing in the Junior and Beauty parades. Last year's Junior parade presented pre-sented many of the youngsters of the community in interesting and beautiful costumes. Probably the outstanding parade each year is the Beauty parade in which sponsoring spon-soring firms are able to present a few of the many beautiful girls for which Dixie is justly famed. Amateur Night Tonight's Rodeo will feature the amateurs of this section and give them a chance to see how they can measure up against professional pro-fessional rodeo stock. In addition to the amateur events, Mr. Hill announces there will be several professionals who will balance up the show with some of their spectacular spec-tacular skill. Buy Tickets Now Those planning on attending the Rodeo are urged to buy their tickets tick-ets ahead of time so that there will not be a jam at the two entrances en-trances to the Rodeo grounds tonight. to-night. These tickets are good for any night of the show and can be (Continued on page eight) Lions Rodeo (Continued from first page) used by anyone. They are being offered for sale by several of the local business houses. Vegas Delegation Those coming in ahead of time from Las Vegas report that they are expecting a delegation of around 400 from the community to attend the celebration. Plans are made to meet them at the state line with an escort. Oher communities have indicated that they will be well-represented so that those in charge anticipate more people in from the outside than has ever attended the Round-Up. |
