Show -1 Firemen Win Battle With Fire At Eliza Judd Home St. George firemen fought a 2-hour 2-hour battle to bring a fire of unknown un-known origin at the Eliza Judd home under control last night. The fire alarm was received at 11:30 p.m., and the firemen left at approximately 2 a. m. The fire would have burned the home completely com-pletely up had the firemen not responded promptly. Damage was mainly to the back section of the house where the roof and ceiling were burned off. This part of the house was reported re-ported used mainly as a storage unt. Fine water pressure was a big help, the firemen report, in controlling con-trolling the blaze which was whipped toward the front section sec-tion by the wind. The whole roof was blazing when the firemen arrived. ar-rived. Also the roof of the Henry Hen-ry Crosby home was beginning to smolder with live coals falling on it from the fire. A stream of water wa-ter was immediately turned on it to eliminate any danger of fire. The firemen report that they did not believe that the furniture was badly damaged. The biggest loss was in bedding, trunks and boxes in the back room, and considerable con-siderable damage to the roof of the kitchen and main section of the house. |
