Show No Washington County Men Expected To Be Called In First Draft Due To the Number of Volunteers, First Draft Quota Is Filled With the completion of the drawing draw-ing of the numbers of the national na-tional draft lottery, men of Washington Wash-ington county who came within the draft age limits have now been given their order number in N . accordance with sequence they . , . were drawn in Washington, D. C. However, a check witli Leo A. :, Snow, head of the county draft selection board, reveals that it is I not probable that any men in I this county will be called in this i first draft which takes place on ; November 15. I In explaining the reason this j will not be necessary, Mr. Snow points out that (here have been . ; more than enough volunteers to date to fill the quota assigned this county under the first draft call. , . i Interesting Facts : : Of interest is the fact that out of the first four names drawn in ' 3 this county, three of the men ; Jjf are from Rockville. The first drawn in the county was the ' now famous 15S held by Grant .' Langston who is a teacher in the Washington county schools. The ' other two Rockville men are C John T. Terry and Sherman Rus- j sell. Dean Peterson, teacher at the Dixie junior college, was the ; second name drawn. His number . was 192. Another Interesting '. point is that none of the six num.- ; bers that were missing in the ! drawing affected this county since the numbers were all over 1,000 and the numbers in this county didn't go over 900. While the order number of each man will indicate the order in vvhich he will be called in for I Continued on page eight) ,., Conscription Stcry ; 'Continued from first page) examination, it does not necessarily neces-sarily mean the order in which lie will be called into the Army, .since many men will be exempted because of physical defects, dependants, de-pendants, type of work and many other factors governing the order in which draftees will be called 'into the service. Questionnaires i will be sent out to between 200 land 300 in the county in the near future, and unless a national em-f em-f ergency arises this is all that ! will be classified for several months, reports Mr. Snow. 1 On Former Draft Board Another interesting feature of ' the draft is that Mr. Snow is the ! only survivor of the county draf t I board of 1917. At this time of I that year he reports they were in the midst of making their selections. se-lections. Due to the fact that not enough space is available in this issue of the News, the entire list of those J who are in the draft and the ord-j ord-j er of their selection, will not be published in this issue. However, the entire list will be in next week's issue. The present list, which follows, are those 125 in this list. The balance of the 900 and the order of their drawing and the number under which they will be called, will be published next week.
