Show p Annual Pentathlon Meet To Be Held At Dixie, April 25th The Dixie district junior pentathlon pen-tathlon meet, sponsored by the Deseret News, will be held on the Dixie college campus, Saturday, April 25, beginning at 2 p. m. under the supervision of Coaches Lee Hafen and Lloyd Shields. Denby Wade will act as student director. Athletes from fifteen schools of Southern Utah and Nevada will compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals and official certificates' which will he awarded to both the Senior and Junior divisions in each event. The two units of competition are determined by co-efficients which are figured- by a point system according to age, weight, and height of the boy. Any boy whose co-efficient is 300 or more (Continued on page five) PENTATHLON (Continued from first page) points competes in the senior division and those hoys with less than 300 points in the junior division. This is a scientific basis of competition which gives each boy an equal chance to win. The events are as follows: 50 yard dash for juniors, 7 5 yard dash for Seniors, 5 lb. shot-put, shot-put, basketball event, broad and high jump. The winners of the events will be presented with medals and official of-ficial certificates by D. C. Watson, local . business man, on the college col-lege lawn after the meet. The winners of this meet will be eligible eli-gible to enter the grand finals to be held at the South high school campus in Salt Lake City. Gaturday May 16. The medals to be presented are now on display in the Athletic j Trophy case at the Dixie college i building. According to officials in charge, I there are some very outstanding athletes in this division and very keen competition is expec- ted. Admission is free and the public is invited. j |
