Show Local News Items . . . Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Short and family motored to Ogden last Friday on receipt of word that Mrs. Short's father Charles G. Price had died in that city on Thursday. Funeral services were held in Ogden Sunday for this 73 year old resident who emigrated from Sweden as a young man, a convert of the L.D.S. church. The Bridge Ettes were guests Wednesday afternoon of Mrs. Grant Whitehead with honors going go-ing to Mrs. Willard Milne and Mrs. Wayne Whitehead, the latter being a guest for the afternoon. J Members of the Diana club, met for their regular meeting on J Thursday night at the home of J Laprele Sullivan. Evelyn Smith, t who had just returned from her J vacation in Southern California, 4 brought each girl in the club a gift. Cottam and other relatives in this city. They held a family party July 24 and 25 at Oak Grove. On Saturday they left for Alamo, Nev. to spend the week with Mrs. Cottam's mother, Dr. Luna Brown. Mrs. Louie Blair left Wednesday Wednes-day evening for Los Angeles where she will visit with her son, Lamond and family and attend the marriage of her granddaughter. Mrs. James Pectol and daughter, Helen, motored to Los Angeles Sunday with Mrs. Pectol's grandsons, grand-sons, James and Cecil McArthur, returning Wednesday night accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Lou Fitcher, who will visit until Saturday. Her son, Max McArthur, who arrived here with his brothers two weeks ago will return with her. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Simmons entertained the Saturday night Bridge club at their home on July 27,' the affair being set in their open air living room. Guests for the event, besides regular club members, were Dr. and Mrs. Walter Whalen. . The Misses Rhea and La Rene Cottam of Escalante, arrived Tuesday Tues-day evening in St. George to be fnr two weeks of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Cottam and daughters. Miss Rhea made her home with the Cottams while attending the Dixie junior college from which she graduated in the spring of 1939. Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Ashby left Thursday for Salt Lake City for a business trip. Mr. Ashby returned re-turned Saturday while Mr. Ashby did not get back until Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Reber and small son, Robert, went to Pan-guitch Pan-guitch Lake to fish last Tuesday. They are expected back today (Thursday). Lee Weibel, owner of the Dixie Jewel Shop, is in Los Angeles for a week's vacation. Mrs. Weibel is in the store during his absence. . Norda Gibson and Rose Leavitt spent the week end .in Gunlock. |
