Show SPARROWS SHOULD BE POISONED NOW SAYS CO. AGENT For the past several years, this district has had a rather severe infestation of English sparrows which have done a great deal of damage in this community, com-munity, and it has been rather difficult to control these while there has been other foods for them to eat. Anson B. Call, County Agent, points out that now is the time to combat this pest while snow is on the gound, as there is nothing for them to find to eat. If the sparrows have a habit of congregating around any definite place to eat, he advises that a little good wheat which has not been poisoned be sprinkled for them to eat for a day or two and get them used to coming to that particular place to eat, then throw them some poison wheat. To get the best control, all who are bothered with sparrows should take action immediately to help control these birds. There are very few other birds which will eat the grain other than the sparrows when it is put out this way, there should be little possibility of killing other birds. Poison wheat may be obtained at the county agent's office. |
