Show Hurricane F.Fi. . Boys Return From Trip To National Convention (Continued from page one) bright spot of the series of concerts con-certs was the program given by j the Utah band in the Kansas City municipal auditorium. The manager man-ager of the auditorium stated that he had heard all of the bands, pro-j pro-j fessional and amateur, which had visited Kansas City during the ipast two years, and the perfor-!mance perfor-!mance of the Utah band at this concert established a new all-time high for excellence. In the maneuvers maneu-vers the band formed the letters F.F.A. and UTAH in such a snappy and precise style in the arena at the Livestock show, that the vast audience responded heartily with applause- jlany Attend Ten thousand boys from forty-seven forty-seven states, Hawaii and Porto Rico attended the convention, which cost the national association ten thousand dollars. The national convention is held in connection with the annual American Royal Livestock Show, which is noted throughout the world for the extensive ex-tensive exhibits of all breeds of livestock. The American Royal Horse show is an added feature to the general show, and proved of special interest to the Utah boys. A number of complimentary banquets were given to the Utah boys. Among these was one at Denver, Colorado, by a large oil company, one at Independence, Missouri, by the L. D. S. Relief Society, and one at Salt Lake City by the chamber of commerce. Street parades by the band were made at Salt Lake City, Denver, and Kansas City. On Thursday, the last day of the convention, the Utah delegation delega-tion made a tour into the country, visiting among other points of interest, in-terest, the Longview and Chapman farms. The Chapman dairy farm is the largest unit and is reputed to have the most modern equipment equip-ment of any farm in the country. The Longview farm is primarily a dairy farm, but the owner of the farm, Mrs. Lulu Long Combs, owns some of the most noted horses and barns in the country. The horses from this estate have won many prizes at horse shows throughout the country. C. of C- Guests The trip ended with a full day at Salt Lake City. The boys were guests of the chamber of commerce com-merce at breakfast, presented a band concert before the teachers convention in the Tabernacle, after af-ter which they played for Governor Gover-nor Henry H. Blood before the State Capitol building. In the afternoon af-ternoon the boys were guests of the University of Utah at the game between the Utes and Denver Den-ver University. The F.F.A. band played and marched at the game. After the game the boys parted to leave for their respective homes with many happy memories of the ten day trip. |
