Show Tillie Winsor Awarded High Honorj) At U.E.A. Convention In Salt Cake City Congratulations continue coming in to Miss Tillie Winsor, supervisor super-visor of elementary schools of Washington county on her outstanding out-standing success in the recent Utah Educational association convention con-vention election. This is a three-point three-point recognition success for Miss Winsor, placing her as the tirst candidate from Southern Utah ever to be elected to the membership mem-bership of the U.E.A. Board of Trustees; the second women to be elected to this position, as far as known; and giving her one of the highest votes ever scored in this election. She received more than 1500 votes. . This Board of Trustees has a membership of six, with four an- nual holdovers and two new members mem-bers elected each year. NaturaUy the competition is keen, and there are always plenty of candidates. The other member elected this year is Joseph Lae, mayor of Brig-ham Brig-ham city. The duties of this office wiU call Miss Winsor into Salt Lake City regularly for important meetings ofthe U.E.A. Milton E. Charles H. Skidmore, state superintendent of schools, gave Miss Winsor another commission during the Educational convention, making her a member of the State Curricular committee, as member of the Science department. This position is appointive, and it is given in recognition of personal j merit. It includes the responsibility responsi-bility of assisting with the organizing organiz-ing of new and detailed courses of study for the schools of the entire state. This dual appointment and election elec-tion comes as fitting recognition to Miss Winsor for her 30 years of successful teaching, six of which have included the duties of county supervisor. This year marks the fourth year in which her time has been devoted entirely to supervision. |
