Show Church Beautification Program Goes Forward Irving T. Nelson, landscape gard-ner gard-ner of the L.D.S. church, arrived in St. George last Friday to continue con-tinue the program of beautification beautifica-tion of grounds surrounding the Temple. Mr. Nelson is accompanied accom-panied by Louis Buhrley also of Salt Lake City. Several young men of the community are also assisting the work of planting shrubs and evergreens and arranging ar-ranging flower plots. Mr. Nelson expresses enthusiasm over the results re-sults obtained in the Temple rose garden which has been a riot of color since early spring. The roses having been planted last March, are still blooming profusely and enlist the praise and admiration of tourists. Tuesday evening following the M.I.A. meeting, Mr. Nelson gave an illustrated group of stories of beautification of church, school and home surroundings, with colored slides showing the original conditions and the improvements obtained. The slides were taken in and near Salt Lake City. Mr. Buhrley is to remain for several months in St. George in connection with the beautification of the Temple grounds. Either he or Mr. Nelson will be pleased . to give local people advice in the landscaping of their gardens and yards. |
