Show College To Play Westminster In North Saturday Six Tough Games In Month Makes Dixie's Chance For Undefeated Season Slim With the high school team drawing draw-ing a bye this week the Dixie junior college squad travels to Salt Lake City to play a Homecoming Home-coming game with Westminster college. Westminster has a very tough team this year as was evi- denced by holding the strong B.A.C. team to an 0-0 score two weeks ago in Cedar City, and if the Flyers from Dixie are to win this game it is certain they will have to play good balL Prospects for the game are not (Continued on page ten) Dixie Football (Continued from first page) too bright with several men on the injured list, and Abe Bunting, one of two regular fullbacks, out of the game due to ineligibility. In the scrimmage held last Wednesday, Wednes-day, Carl Taylor, reserve quarterback, quarter-back, suffered a wrenched knee which will keep him on the side lines for a week or two, and Jack Turner, regular end, suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury which kept him out of the Carbon Car-bon game. Turner will probably make the trip to Salt Lake but will not be used except as a last resort. Beginning with the game Saturday, Satur-day, Oct. 28, Dixie launches a suicide schedule which consists of six tough games within a month. On November 3 Dixie plays Snow at Ephraim, November 11, B.A.C. at St. George; November 18, B.A.C. a return game at Cedar; November 25, Weber at St. George and November 30, Mesa junior college at Grand Junction, Colo. Each of the teams scheduled is exceptionally strong this year being larger and having greater reserve strength than Dixie, however, how-ever, barring a lot of tough luck, due to injuries, etc., on a squad which is already inadequate in reserve strength Coach Tolman hopes to make a creditable showing. show-ing. The team will leave St. George by bus at 7 a.m. Friday and will plan to arrive in Salt Lake in time for a light practice on the Parson's field late that afternoon. They will stay at the Hotel New House Friday and Saturday nights and will leave Salt Lake on their way home early Sunday morning. The Westminster student body has been very courteous in extending ex-tending to the players a cordial invitation to attend their Homecoming Home-coming ceremonies and dance after the game. |
